Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
