Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account referencing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

When she went into the residence, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and denied bail.

Correcting the Record

The person close to the family also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

Furthermore disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to reports of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
