Former BBC Consultants Undergo Members of Parliament's Questioning After Claims of Partiality in Disclosed Memorandum
We start with queries from Conservative lawmaker the panel's head, who oversees the group.
She commences by giving background to the leaked memo authored by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the BBC slanting this way or that way, I simply desire it straight, impartial and fair," he states.
In response to a query whether he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott answers: "No I don't. To be clear, a great deal the BBC creates is exceptional - encompassing informative and entertainment content."
But he adds: "There exists significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another former external BBC specialist questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "persistent practice and vigorous discourse" regarding evolving and intricate issues.
"Did the BBC willing to have a genuine conversation and argument and take action?" she asks herself. "In my view, indeed, they were."
