Explosions and Low-Flying Planes Witnessed in Venezuelan Capital Caracas City
Witness testimonies surfaced of several explosions and the noise of low-altitude planes in Caracas in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning. The event has led to accusations from Venezuela's leadership and demands for global intervention.
Venezuela Accuses US of Military Action
The socialist regime has condemned the Washington of what it calls "foreign aggression," stating that ex- President Donald Trump allegedly ordered military strikes against the Latin American state. In an formal statement, the authorities stated that strikes had targeted Caracas and three other states: Miranda, La Guaira, and Aragua.
"Our sole aim of these strikes is to take control of our nation's strategic resources, especially its petroleum and mineral wealth," Venezuela asserted.
Caracas called on the global community to condemn the operations, which it described a "blatant breach of global law" that put numerous of lives in danger.
Reports of Explosions and Military Bases Hit
Eyewitnesses spoke of experiencing approximately several explosions around the middle of the night local time. Citizens in various districts allegedly rushed into the streets outside.

The president of neighboring Colombia, Gustavo Petro, claimed on X that "Currently they are attacking Caracas... bombing it with missiles." He demanded an immediate meeting of the UN Security Council.
The Colombian government, which just joined the Security Council, said it would initiate operational measures at its border with Venezuela.
Background
These reported attacks are preceded by a extended pressure campaign by the US against the Maduro administration. Beginning in August, authorities reported a major US military presence off the country's Caribbean coast and a series of strikes on ships accused of narco-trafficking.
Venezuela's government has announced "the implementation of emergency" and commanded all national defence plans to be initiated. It has also urged its supporters to mobilize and "repudiate this imperialist attack."
The White House and the Defense Department have not immediately responded to inquiries for comment regarding the reports.
